Fleet Festivities

Our Cubs and their leaders ran a stall Fleet Festivities with two tombolas and sweetie games. They managed to raise a fantastic £535.20 for the HQ rebuild. Thank you to everyone who contributed items for the stall and those who supported us on the night.

Race Night

In November we held a fund-raising Race Night attended by 30 families. This has become an annual event and is great fun. This year we raised more than £1,200 towards the Rebuild fund.

9 Dens Challenge – Scout Leaders ‘SORE’ an opportunity

Celebrating their 105th Anniversary this year, 1st Crookham Scout Leaders kicked off the start of their new fundraising campaign, to build a brand-new HQ, by cycling the “Nine Dens Cycle Challenge”. On Sunday 21st May, the Leaders – all volunteers, cycled 22 miles and raised more than £2,000 to go towards their HQ rebuild.

“The sponsored cycle ride is just the beginning,” said Group Scout Leader Mark Medler. “Our Scout Group has been in Church Crookham since 1965, and our HQ is looking its age! The asbestos roof is leaking and must be replaced. Our electrics need updating as well. We hope to raise £350,000 to rebuild the HQ, which is used by more than 210 boys and girls every week.”

The Groups Executive Chairwoman, Sujata Sinha, took part in the cycle ride around the nine Scout Group HQ’s in Odiham Scout District. Sujata added, “We had great fun on the cycle, but a number of us were a bit sore the next day. All the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers will be helping to raise money over the next few years. We have a number of fundraising ideas we hope the good people of Fleet will support us with.”

Several participants were able to attract matching sponsorship from their employers. Special thanks goes to Stephen Davis, and his company Insignia Medical Systems Ltd, based in Hatch Warren, who will have contributed over £600 between them.

We also have a website at virginmoneygiving.com if anyone wishes to donate. We are also looking for the advice of a quantity surveyor or building contractor to help us assess our rebuild options.
